Gun control initiatives in the U.S. yield opposite results



 

The U.S. administration, for quite some time has been trying to rein in and control the purchase and use of guns in the country. It was also being anticipated that government authorities would embark on a nationwide mission of confiscating firearms. But Natural News reports that the initiatives to control guns have yielded just the opposite results.

 

It was thought that the gun control measures would decrease the number of guns in the hands of civilians significantly. But to the contrary; sale of firearms across the U.S. has touched a record high level in the country’s history. The membership of the NRA has also gone up by 300,000 in the last few months.

The advocates of gun control are now gradually changing their position in the face of huge adverse public opinion. President Obama, who himself has been one of the most vehement advocates of gun control, has allowed himself to be photographed while shooting a shotgun in order to propagate the concept that he is actually pro-gun. Piers Morgan of CNN who has always spoken for gun control and gun confiscation has changed his position and is now saying that he has never been against the Second Amendment.

 

It is reported that the anti-gun propagandists have understood that they would have to face fierce resistance if they try to enforce the gun control law on U.S. citizens. Even many sheriffs across the U.S. have opined that they would not allow federal authorities to enforce the gun control law in their jurisdiction.

 

But still, there is concern regarding the government’s actions in enforcing gun restrictions. Natural News reports that top government officials may resort to unfair means to draw the public opinion in their favor. They may plan a massacre like that one in Sandy Hook Elementary School in places like airports and stadiums. The FBI is well known for masterminding such domestic terror plots. So, U.S. citizens have to be more careful in the future.
