Antibiotics have been used for nearly a century as a weapon against disease. The U.K. Department of Health has called for a global action in order to contain the threats posed by superbugs. According to Dame Sally Davies, the Chief Medical Officer of England, in the next twenty years anyone can die even after minor surgery, as superbugs grow more and more resistant to antibiotics. Davies also opines that diseases like pneumonia and other infections will be harder to be treated in the future due to the onset of more superbugs.
